Sorry for the spoiler pic, but I thought the death of Ziost was the most appropriate representation for what I feel is happening to The Bastion these days. The population just seems so anemic. Every time I have logged in on one of my characters that is still a member of Vindictive, for instance, I am the only one on. (And now, more recently, I logged in to an MOTD posted about a server transfer to The Ebon Hawk, so I guess that’s that). And this after a recent announcement by Stippling, the GM of Failure, regarding a transfer of Failure to The Harbinger. So with all my friends transferring elsewhere and my streamies that have transferred in nowhere to be found right now, it seems like The Bastion is a sinking ship… And it’s time for a change.
I assure you, this change is something I have struggled with for a while now. My origin server at launch was Warriors of the Shadow, which was merged into The Bastion after the initial wave of fairweather, experimental players died off. The Bastion has therefore been my home ever since launch. But times change. The Harbinger seems to be a great rally point for refugees from dying servers because it is already so well populated, and given what I hope will be a renewed focus on PVP for me, it seems like a good place to be. And no, I am not keen on playing lonely either, so in many ways I feel the decision was made for me.
That said, I have transferred Sechari to The Harbinger, with more characters to follow soon. I may leave my Republic characters on The Bastion for now because I won’t be playing them for a while yet, but if I ever decide to I will bring them over too.
So so long, Bastion! It was a blast. On to bigger and better things. Those of you who remain on The Bastion, take care of yourselves. I will see you on The Harbinger when they inevitably merge you in
